“Moment of Glory” Scene 1
In a deep sea of overwhelming excitement, Hailey Diamond was making her way backstage after her first victory over Brittany Logan just moments ago. The sweat that trickled down the side of her face, interfering with her make up but her smile made it all seem worth it. The young lady made her way through the backstage area, getting small bits of encouragement from her fellow employees as she held her ring jacket in hand. She keeps walking until she is stopped by James Jones, the interviewer of MWE who has been waiting for her since she won her first match.
James Jones: “Ms. Diamond… if I could just get your reaction on your first match ever in wrestling.”
A tiny bit of sweaty tears built up in her eyes as she used her arm to brush it past her brows. She looked at James, and then within an instant embraced him in a celebrative hug. She quickly let go and began to apologize.
Hailey Diamond: “I’m sorry… it’s just… I never thought that I would see myself here, and I just feel so relieved that I was able to pull off a win in my first match.”
James Jones: “And what a victory it was, very convincing. But I have to ask, after your match we all saw Michael McMone come out from the back and offer to be your manager in MWE. How do you feel about that?”
Hailey Diamond: “Well, I think that it’s an honor that someone could see a bright future for me, but unfortunately I’m looking to grow organically as a wrestler. I have to admit that even though I’ve fought my entire life, it doesn’t mean I’m ready for high profile matches.”
James Jones: “Like your match at Wrestlefest 3 against Brittany Collins?”
Hailey stopped for a second, not remembering that she signed up to represent MWE in the return UWL Super Pay Per View event. When she did remember, she finally nodded and continued.
Hailey Diamond: “You see, I know that in this business you’re either a winner or a loser. But I want everyone here to know that I’m here to become the best women’s wrestler ever, with absolutely no excuses.”
James Jones: “Do you think your victory tonight has helped give you a bit of confide….”
James is cut off by the emergence of Bryan Kennedy, who has an impressed smile coming across him as he looks at the star in making.
Bryan Kennedy: “Ms. Diamond, I have to say congratulations. A victory in this business is no easy feat, and one in your first match is even more of a task.”
Hailey’s smile widens three folds as she gets the endorsement from the MWE’s Owner himself. Bryan, however, seems to be able to hold back his enthusiasm just a bit so that he can keep things professional.
Bryan Kennedy: “However, I have to wonder if that win was a fluke or if it was something to look out for. Now don’t get me wrong, as a competitor you are top notch and will go far. But I have to see if you’re one hundred percent ready. So next week, I’m scheduling you and Brittany Logan in a rematch. Consider it a tune up match for Brittany Coleman at WrestleFest 3. Oh, and there’s going to be a special guest at ringside.”
Bryan says as he nods at James Jones and Hailey Diamond before leaving the two of them to be alone. James and Hailey both look on confused as the camera fades out.
“Alone in a Lonely World” Scene 2
The scene comes into view just days after Hailey Diamond’s first match in wrestling history where she is seen staying in an extended stay hotel known as Inn-Town Suites. Her room favors the look of a small home complete with a bathroom, kitchenette, small eating table, a bed, two person sofa, a drawer, and 72’ flat screen television. Plus, the entire hotel complex managed to accommodate with free wifi, which was an added bonus. In short, it was as if Hailey had gone back to college. As she made herself accustomed to the city of St. Louis, Hailey began to feel the tall tell signs of home sickness as she laid on her bed in her pajamas. It was kind of expected, considering Hailey had little money, no car, and was in a very unfamiliar town. Still, she managed to sit up from in her bed as she reached over to the small table [it was literally right by her bed] and grabbed the laptop. She opened the bright pink lid as she logged on and entered into a Skype call with her mother, Aerial.
Aerial: “Hey pumpkin, I just saw the replay of your first show. Oh baby, I’m so proud of you.”
The approval of her mother helped Hailey feel better as smiled. She missed her mother dearly, but hearing that she made her mom proud seemingly gave her a lot of hope to stick with her career path. Of course, being a mother Mrs. Aerial Diamond could sense something was wrong even with the blurry picture of a bad camera.
Aerial: “So, do you like the new city yet?”
With a crinkle of her mouth to the left side, Hailey shook her head no before sighing and replying to her mother.
Hailey: “I’m sure I will once I get used to it. But right now, I’m just not really sure how I feel. It’s also hard to enjoy the new city since I left Gabbi back home.”
Gabbi was her purple Volkswagen Jetta that her father had bought her for her 16th birthday. It was left behind in favor of a plane ticket, with the promise that her father would bring it to her by Independence Day Weekend. Her mother laughed as she heard Hailey still refer to her car by a name.
Aerial: “Well I’m sure there that if you call Mr. Kennedy he’ll be able to help you. He did say that he was willing to do whatever it took to make you into a star. And I’ve seen him in his political campaigns, he’s been genuine there so I have no reason to not believe him now.”
Like her boss, Hailey’s mother was a Democrat at heart in terms of moral values and the willingness to share wealth helped Hailey to relax as she thought about asking her boss for a favor.
Aerial: “Now what’s that look for?”
Aerial asked as she noticed her daughter making a small grin across her face. Hailey’s grin grew wider as she looked back at the laptop.
Hailey: “I was just thinking about how Bryan told me that he was impressed with me after my match. It means a lot that he feels that way. I just hope I don’t let him down.”
Aerial: “Now you know that I didn’t raise you to be a quitter, so don’t start now. Besides, I heard you’ve got a rematch. You won last time, so you should be able to win this time.”
Hailey: “Yeah I know, you raised me to be a fighter. It’s my greatest trait, but sometimes I just worry.”
Aerial: “I know sweety, but it’ll get better I promise. Anyway, I hate to cut our talk short but Timmy has to go to the doctor’s office so I’ll talk to you later. And be sure to give Bryan a call.”
Hailey: “I will.”
The two ladies blew kisses at each other through their computers before Hailey closed the lid to her laptop. Finally getting out of bed, Hailey went to her phone and called Bryan in hopes of him doing her this huge favor.
“Her Story” Scene 3
The starts off just outside of a local women’s clothing store where a small white Ford Focus pulls up to the empty parking spot, as granted by the meter. Coming out of the driver’s side door is Hailey Diamond, with a few coins in hand as well as the key to the car. The car doesn’t show any signs of being a rental, so one could assume it’s borrowed. As Haley put in the coins to last her about 2 hours, she looks at the building in front of her before turning and walking in a completely different direction. The camera followed along until she came up to a tall building with the sign “Kennedy Sports Agency Incorporated” sitting out front. Walking into the building, the lady at the front desk greets Hailey with a smile.
Secretary Linda: “Good evening Ms. Diamond, you’re just in time for the shoot. But unfortunately, Defecto is running a bit over time so it will be a minute before you’ll get called.”
Hailey Diamond: “That’s fine. And thank you for loaning me the car, I promise I owe you big time.”
Secretary Linda: “Oh sweety, that car isn’t mine… it’s KSA’s company car. And since you’re a representative of Bryan’s MWE, you’re qualified to use it. I just had it at my house because my husband was fixing his truck and used my real car until it got fixed.”
Linda said as she pointed out of the door, showing the fire engine red Mustang that sat out front. Hailey smiled again as she turned back to Linda and got the ID badge being handed to her. The two ladies parted ways as Hailey walked towards the elevators. As she approached, the doors of the elevator opened and out walked Defecto and his NLW Partner Claudia Deathstryke. An instant chill of nervousness came over the back of Hailey as the two championship wearing stars walked out of the elevator. Quickly, Hailey stepped in and pressed the button for the second floor.
??: “Nervous?”
The voice of Bryan Kennedy startled Hailey as she turned to see him standing against the back of the elevator. Bryan smiled as Hailey let out a sigh. She then smiled and nodded. Bryan, with a professional as ever stance looked at Hailey.
Bryan Kennedy: “Good, you should be… You’re about to tell the MWE fans your life story. You are also about to let them decide whether they love your or hate you, there is no in between. So today is a very nervous day, and you should be worried… But you should also be excited and confident.”
Bryan said to Hailey, which seemed to awkwardly make sense to her. She nodded as the elevator stopped and the doors opened with a ding. Being a gentleman, Bryan let Hailey exit first before leaving the elevator herself. Not knowing where to go exactly, Hailey followed Bryan down the hall and into a big room labeled “Filming – Stage B”. Bryan stepped aside as he opened the door for her and the two of them walked in. Once inside, Hailey is greeted by the director who hands Hailey a microphone and tells her where to stand. Getting back behind the camera with Bryan, the camera man starts the silent countdown.
5…. 4…. 3…. 2…. * REC
Hailey stood there looking just above the camera as she quickly gathered her thoughts and began speaking.
Hailey: “As a little girl growing up with a white family deep in the heart of Brooklyn, New York adversity was something that I battled through on a daily basis. Forget about the constant ramblings I heard of people telling me that I was silver spoon fed, forget about the constant break ins my family suffered just because people thought we had more to steal… every single day of my life, growing up was a fight that I had to win just to survive. It wasn’t an easy fight, and to this day it still isn’t… but it was a fight that I persevered through in order to make it.”
Hailey says as she looks back down at the camera, her face going from nervous to serious in an instant. Her bangs hung just to the side of her face, in a way that heightened her emotion.
Hailey: “And how did I persevere? How did I manage to pick myself up off the ground after being cornered and beaten on a daily basis by both men and women of every race? How did I get out of that city to begin building for a new and better life? Well, it’s simple… I turned on my father’s small little television screen and I watched as men and women battled deep in the heart of New York. I watched as gladiators sold out the legendary Madison Square Garden. And I began to feel that my calling was to be just like them… I began to feel that if I wanted to be respected I had to be what they were.”
Hailey said as she looked around, not so much at the people in the room but rather into a distant memory.
Hailey: “So after that day, I stopped being the girl that let others beat her and push her around… I started taking my hands…”
She says, lifting her right hand in the air as the left one grasped on to the microphone. Slowly, the opened hand begins to close into a fist.
Hailey: “I balled them up until they couldn’t get any tighter, and I fought my way out of every single trap, every single near death experience, and into a new future. I fought for the life that I wanted to have, and one day that life was offered to me… when a young politician saw what nobody else wanted to see… I was given a one way plane ticket for one from the city that never sleeps all the way to Saints’ Capitol of St. Louis, Missouri…”
She lets her free hand slowly fall as she continues.
Hailey: “And after a long discussion with my family, the decision was made that this little girl would no longer be forced to live in the city she did, and would accept the chance to live out her dreams. So I flew… I flew to St. Louis, I flew to the greatest wrestling city in the history of the industry. I flew because I knew that if I wanted to be anything in this industry, I had to come through this city… this beautiful city. And last week, this city gave me all the love and support I needed to make my first in ring match a success. But that was then and this is now… Because the honeymoon stage is over, and the newness of a fresh wrestling face has come and gone. Now, it’s time for me to make things convincing. Now it’s time to make the Missouri Wrestling Experience and the United Wrestling League see what I’ve been holding back for years. It’s time for them to see how a young girl in a dark world can battle and become her own hero, her own knight in shining armor, and above all else… become the motivation needed to inspire anyone else in their own time of struggle to find their way out. This Saturday, I’ve got a rematch against Brittany Logan. A match that’s being said to have a different outcome now that Brittany doesn’t underestimate me, but I promise you all that my fight won’t stop until my hand is raised once more. And when it’s all said and done, the MWE will get its next taste of an HD Upgrade.”
Hailey says as she looks at the camera crew, just as the red light goes out. The lot of them stare at Hailey, with their mouths dropped to the floor as she hands the microphone to the director and leaves with a smile of confidence.
