Earlier today, I got the chance to sit down with MWE Chairman Bryan Kennedy just minutes after the press release for the debut Saturday Night Throwback was sent out. In the interview, we talked about what he expects from the show, where he sees this taking us, and even why the hold up on crowning an inaugural champion.
On what to expect June 14, 2014
"I think that wrestling fans everywhere, after they get situated at the arena, on PW:Syndicated, or MWExperience.com; they will be in for a serious treat. We've got a special attraction open challenge with No Limit Wrestling's newly crowned Nevada State Champion Defecto asking anybody to step up and face him. We have the beginning of the King of the Hill Qualifier matches... and we've got big surprises coming from all around the United Wrestling League."
On what he expects from the roster
"It may sound cliche, but all that I want from the guys and girls in the back is their best efforts. When you go out there, you're not doing it just for yourself. You're doing it because these fans paid to see it done, and deserve to be entertained. Not only that, but the wrestlers also deserve it from themselves. This is competition, and the best always want to face the best. It's why Defecto made the open challenge that he did, because he wants to prove he's the best in all of UWL."
On where a successful debut will take us
"To the moon. Pro-Wrestling fans are always the most loyal fans anywhere. Football, Soccer, basketball, hockey... whatever. Their fans aren't always as loyal, and the ones that are don't always want to show it. And sometimes, when they do they still can't. Pro-Wrestling fans always find a way to let their voices be heard. And with something that powerful, if we give them a great product; Missouri Wrestling Experience will be around forever!"
On Why the hold up on crowning a champion
"Simply put, we're still in the infant stage of the MWE. Not only are we still developing our roster, but we're also still developing our brand. What will separate us from the rest? What can we offer that 2nd City Wrestling, No Limit Wrestling, nor anybody else can't offer? Once we find out that, then we can crown champions. Plus, this will give the MWE a way to thin out any potential flakes and get a good idea on where we see the roster for the first set of Missouri Heavyweight Title contenders."
On when to expect the first champion to be crowned
"As it sits currently, the first UWL Missouri Heavyweight Champion will be crowned on August 17th at the Hale Arena in Kansas City, Missouri."
On when to expect the first SuperShow
"Plans are already in the works as we get ready to start our journey. But until we can make sure our first inaugural show goes off without a hitch, nothing will be announced."
Bryan Kennedy would then go on to talk about some stars he's been in talks with about joining, but per his request we can't announce them at this time. Until then, the MWE looks to be ready to give the locker room and the fans an experience that the name insinuates. So be sure to catch the first edition of MWE Throwback on June 14th live on the Pro-Wrestling Syndicated Network at 11pm Central time.
